Every year the Titan Student Union designates a budget for capital equipment purchases intended for various building improvements and needed equipment replacements. Planned expenditures include office equipment, computer hardware and software, and furniture replacements. Highlighted below are some of the large-scale projects planned for this year. Food Court Dining Room Upgrades
Funds are designated this year to complete phase one of a two-phase process to upgrade the Titan Student Union's food court. Phase one consists of upgrading the dining room area including new tile flooring, paint, furniture and the resurfacing of the counters and drink stations. Three new automatic doors leading from the TSU's north entry into the adjacent courtyard and into the food court will also be installed. Phase two, planned for the following academic year, will focus on improving queuing systems, cashiering and product displays, and backroom operations for the individual food operations.
Project Budget: $246,000
Project Update: The food court upgrades were complete during Intersession 2007.
Titan Recreation Cardio Studio Equipment
The Titan Student Union's 2006-07 budget has designated funds to purchase 10 new pieces of cardio equipment in preparation for the opening of the student recreation center. These new pieces will be installed temporarily in the Kinesiology and Health Science building for students and Rec members to utilize. Purchasing the equipment out of this budget allows staff to evaluate the pieces, receive users' feedback, and save funds out of the recreation center's project budget. The pieces will also be installed with the personal entertainment equipment that will be featured in the Student Recreation Center's cardio studio.

Project Update: The KHS Cardio Studio opened in fall 2006 for campus use.
Titan Theatre Seating and Sound Upgrades
Based on feedback from student leaders, staff, and student union guests, the Titan Student Union has funded for an upgrade to the Titan Theatre. The scope of the project consists of new seats and sound equipment, including an amplifier and mixer. The project is intended to enhance the quality of events held in this space. The Titan Theatre accommodates 174 people and is frequently booked for films, guest speakers, and other campus or private events.
Project Budget: $64,200
Project Update: Project complete in May 2007.
Irvine Campus - Interior/Exterior Furnishings
With the expansion of the Irvine Campus into a second building, the Titan Student Union will fund for furnishings for a second lounge and study space in this newly acquired building. The existing study spaces at the Irvine Campus will also be improved with the purchase of the new lamps for the TSU Lounge and outdoor patio furniture in the highly utilized courtyard.
