ASI's many boards and committees provide a variety of opportunities for students to be an integral part of Cal State Fullerton. Students have fun and make friends while participating in the important decision-making processes of the University. Students are encouraged to get involved in a committee, make a difference on the campus, and add to their resumes.

Associated Students Inc. Committees

Finance Committee
Reviews funding requests from student groups and organizations and forwards recommendations to the ASI Board of Directors. This committee also formulates, reviews, and recommends fiscal policies for Associated Students Inc. The Committee includes four student members.

Lobby Corps
Tracks the state and federal issues that relate to students. This committee coordinates the lobbying efforts of the student body and works with the California State Student Association to advocate the student interests. The Committee includes eight student members.

Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee selects recipients for ASI scholarships based on scholarship criteria including academic success, leadership experience, and contributions to the CSUF community. This committee also reviews nominations and awards a faculty member each year with the ASI Outstanding Educator of the Year. The Committee includes twelve student members.

Titan Student Union Food Committee
This committee is charged with the responsibility of maintaining the quality of the University food services at the highest level. The Committee provides advice, feedback, and recommendations to the food services director regarding policies concerning food service on campus, as well as constructive criticism regarding the quality of service, variety and prices of the menu, service area cleanliness, and overall customer service. The Committee includes one student member.

Titan Tusk Force Committee
The Titan Tusk Force is a network of students actively working to develop a sense of unity, pride, and identity through campus community programs, promotion, and recognition while fostering campus involvement for the past, present, and future Titans. The Committee has unlimited student membership.

University Affairs Committee
Reviews, formulates, and recommends policies to the ASI Board of Directors regarding the ASI By-laws and Policies. The committee is responsible for implementing new programs for the ASI Board of Directors as well as tracking vital issues pertaining to the University. The Committee includes four student members.


University-Wide Committees

Academic Appeals Board
Reviews and deliberates on appeals made by students regarding grades they have received and decides whether or not students' grades were unfairly assigned. The board therefore decides, after reviewing each case, whether students' appeals should be sustained or denied. The Committee includes two student members.

Affirmative Action Board
Reviews and recommends University policies relating to recruitment, appointment, professional development, and promotion of faculty, administrative personnel, student services, and library professionals. This Board also measures the effectiveness of campus affirmative action programs. The Committee includes two student members.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Committee
Provides input into the University alcohol and drug education programs, creates, and adjusts campus policy, and coordinates research on student alcohol and other drug use. The Committee includes at least three student members and is open to any member of the campus community.

Honors Board
Recommends suitable administrative procedures for the honors program to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Vice President of Student Affairs. (Available to honors program students only.) The Committee includes two student members from the Honors program.

Institutional Review Board
Insures that the rights of human subjects are not violated in research experimentation. All research involving human subjects must be reviewed and approved by this board. The Committee includes one undergraduate and one graduate student member.

Instructionally-Related Activities Committee
Develops operating policies concerning the IRA funding and reviews budget requests from new and/or previously funded programs. The Committee includes six student members.

Outstanding Professor Committee
Selects one professor each year to be recognized as the "University's Outstanding Professor". This committee also selects one professor each year to be recognized for the "Faculty Leadership Award". The Committee includes two undergraduate students and two graduate student members.

Parking Advisory Committee
Reviews and formulates policy recommendations for campus transportation programs, parking facilities, equipment, and parking regulations. The Committee includes one undergraduate and one graduate student member.

Risk Management Committee
Meets quarterly to discuss issues pertaining to the management and assessment of risk as it relates to the campus community, campus events, instruction, and other related topics. The Committee includes two student members.

Student Health Advisory Committee
Creates awareness of general and specific services offered by the Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) and is a liaison between the campus and staff of the SHCC by periodically reviewing and evaluating its programs and policies. The Committee includes at least seven student members.

University Board on Writing Proficiency
Certifies the courses that each major department designates to fulfill the writing requirement for graduation. The Committee includes one student member.


Academic Senate Committees

Academic Standards Committee
Investigates practices and recommends policies regarding the academic standards of CSUF to promote high academic ideals. The Committee includes three student members.

Curriculum Committee
Formulates, reviews, and recommends proposals for undergraduate and graduate courses at CSUF. The Committee includes three student members.

Extended Education Committee
Oversees the offerings and operations of Extended Education including summer session and intersession classes, on-line courses, certificate programs and satellite-campus education. The Committee includes three student members.

Faculty Development Center Board
Formulates, reviews, and recommends policies regarding faculty development and educational innovation in academic programs. This committee also evaluates educational and innovative grant proposals and makes recommendations as necessary. The Committee includes two student members.

Faculty Research Committee
Formulates, reviews, and recommends policies regarding the award of grants by the CSUF Office of Grants & Contracts, to be responsible for the evaluation of faculty research proposals, and to make recommendations to the President for awards. The Committee includes one student member.

General Education Committee
Reviews the general education courses and requirements, as well as recommendations regarding the designation and the classification of courses appropriate to the General Education Program. The Committee includes three student members.

Graduate Education Committee
Approves changes to any of the graduate education programs and discusses trends in graduate education and programs on campus. The Committee includes two graduate student members. (Available to graduate students only.)

Information Technology Committee
Reviews and discusses policies regarding instructional usage, allocation of computing resources, privacy, and security. The Committee includes two student members.

International Education Committee
Addresses policies relating to the international aspects of education at the University with an emphasis placed on student exchange education (foreign students studying at CSUF and CSUF students studying in other countries). The Committee includes three student members.

Library Committee
Studies and recommends policies relating to library services and programs and specifically focuses on existing and new instructional programs within the library facilities. The Committee includes two student members.

Planning, Resource and Budget Committee
Reviews annual budget requests and recommends the allocation of new and continuing monies received by the University to Academic Affairs, Administration, Student Affairs, University Advancement, and the President's office. The Committee includes two student members.

Student Academic Life Committee
Formulates, reviews, and recommends policies relating to the academic and intellectual development of student life beyond standard classroom experiences. The Committee includes three student members.

University Advancement Committee
Oversees the fund-raising activities of the department and regulates the disbursement of funds raised, promoting faculty involvement throughout the process. The Committee includes two student members.
