Titan Student Centers Governing Board Position Description

The Titan Student Centers (Titan Student Union, Student Recreation Center & Irvine Campus Fitness Center) are governed by a student-majority board, which develops policies on issues ranging from operating hours to services offered. The purpose of the TSC Governing Board is to establish policies that will assure that the Titan Student Centers will be a unifying force between students, faculty, and staff; a campus center for social, cultural, and intellectual activities and services; a place to provide further opportunities to broaden and strengthen interpersonal relationships and self-enhancement within a large urban university; and to provide experience in self-government and civic responsibility.

The TSC Governing Board meets every other Wednesday from 2:30-4:30pm in the TSU Legislative Chambers. All students are invited to attend. These meetings are also open to the public. View past meeting minutes and upcoming agendas.

Mission Statement

The Titan Student Centers, a unit of the Associated Students, CSUF, Inc., serve as primary gathering places on the campus of California State University, Fullerton. The Titan Student Centers strive to develop relevant and quality-minded services, facilities and experiences, which are responsive to members of the campus and surrounding communities.

The purpose of this Governing Board is to establish policies which will assure that the Titan Student Centers are a unifying force between students, faculty, and staff; campus centers for social, cultural, fitness, recreational and intellectual activities and services; places to provide further opportunities to broaden and strengthen interpersonal relationships and self-enhancement within a large urban university; and to provide experience in self-government and civic responsibility.

Goals

  • Increase student awareness of the Titan Student Centers Governing Board, its functions, and services it provides for students.
  • Maintain the highest possible level of financial transparency and responsibility for both the Board and facilities it oversees.
  • Continuous partnership with fellow ASI leaders to ensure the corporation’s success in programming and services.
  • Provide the highest possible caliber of opportunity for student leaders to develop their leadership skills to grow as both students and individuals.
  • Incorporate collegiate branding in numerous facets of the Titan Student Centers, including facility renovations, marketing, and promotions.
  • Increase the level of sustainability in the Titan Student Centers program, primarily in the Titan Student Union.

Committee on Planning

  • Help plan for future projects of the Titan Student Centers.
  • Wednesdays: 2:30-4:30pm in TSU Legislative Chamber I
  • Meeting Dates:
    • Fall 2013: 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 11/6, 12/4.

Committee on Services

  • Participate in establishing TSC policies and reinforcing the services that the TSC offers.
  • Wednesdays, 2:30-4:30pm @ TSU Legislative Chambers II
  • Meeting Dates:
    • Fall 2013: 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 11/6, 12/4.

Art Acquisition Committee

  • Participate in purchasing and relocating art in and around the TSU.
  • Wednesdays: 1:30-2:30pm in TSU Legislative Chambers II
  • Meeting Dates:
    • Fall 2013: 9/25, 10/23, 12/4.

Food Advisory Committee

  • Provide feedback and make recommendations regarding various food services on campus.
  • Wednesdays: 1:30-2:30pm in TSU Legislative Chamber I
  • Meeting Dates:
    • Fall 2013: 9/11, 10/9, 11/6.

All student members of the Governing Board must have a California State University, Fullerton cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 per semester while in office.
