General Information
What are Counselors In Training (CIT)?
- Counselors in Training (CIT) are typically former campers, between the ages of 14-18, who would like the opportunity to still be part of the Titan Youth Sports Camp in a leadership role.
- These are young adults who wish to acquire new leadership and mentoring skills and experiences that they can carry with them into the future.
What type of guidance will CITs receive throughout the summer?
- The CIT program is structured in a way to allow the CITs opportunities to interact with different age levels. This allows the campers to gain respect for the CITs as a leader and a mentor.
- The CITs will meet daily with their fellow CITs and the CIT Coordinator.
- In these brief meetings, they will discuss their experiences of the day, brainstorm solutions, and exchange ideas.
What will a typical day for the CITs entail?
- Depending on the schedule worked out for the CIT, they will arrive to camp at 8:45am.
- All CITs will check-in with the CIT Coordinator who will give them their assignment for the day. They will then proceed to their assigned groups where they will meet the campers in their group for the day.
- They will then assist the counselor they are assigned to with various tasks. This includes but is not limited to: setting up fields for games, leading team building activities, assisting campers with new skills, and ensuring campers have a fun and safe time.
- Before the end of the day, they will meet with the CIT Coordinator to discuss their day.
What type of commitment is required of the CITs?
- We ask that the selected CITs commit to a minimum of 2 weeks of service or 80 hours.
- We also ask that CITs be available for camp orientation as well as First Aid and CPR training.
